adoption
*Only adoption applications that have been filed through the provided link below will be considered.
*Adoption applications will be considered and evaluated in the order they are received. --inquiries about adoptable dogs through other means are not considered to "reserve a space in line".
*We do not have a facility, all of our dogs are kept in loving foster homes. We do meetings individually at your home so we do ask that you fill out an application prior to meeting the dog. Most meetings will take place after the dog has been spayed/ neutered and they will be ready to join your family!
Please read before submitting an application:
*Before an adoption application can be approved, PNK will verify vet references and do a home visit. Please contact your veterinarian that we may be calling for a reference. If you had services done at another veterinarian's office other than your primary vet, update their records.
Three important components of a positive vet reference ( but not limited to ) are:
1. Being spayed/neutered. This includes all pets in the home and pets owned in the past.
2. Up-to-date on vaccines or titer tested.
3. Dogs must be current and have a complete history of being on heartworm prevention. This also includes dogs owned in the past.
If your primary veterinarian does not have records of these 3 requirements, your application will be denied. If there is a medical issue that is confirmed by your vet that your dog(s) cannot have these done, you can be granted an exemption. If you believe your vet reference is incorrect, it is your responsibility to provide documentation stating otherwise.
The final adoption fee is $275.00 which includes spay/neuter, up-to-date vaccines, microchip, fecal screening and other needed vet care.
We cannot hold any dog for any reason. If you are not prepared to take the dog when they are ready for adoption, we will move to the next applicant. Our goal is to get them out of foster care and get them into qualified homes. There is another dog waiting to get out of the shelter.
We will NOT adopt to anyone using or planning on installing an electric fence. This type of fencing is unsafe for the dogs and not recognized as proper containment by law enforcement.
Thank you for your interest in adopting one of our rescues! We look forward to your application.

Fostering
Please fully read the Foster agreement before filling out the Foster Form.
Once I am an approved foster for Project No Kill Animal Shelter, Inc., I agree to the following standards:
a) The animal(s) shall remain the sole property of Project No Kill Animal Shelter, Inc. (PNK).
b) The foster will provide the animal(s) with good care, including, but not limited to, daily wholesome food and fresh water, regular access to use the bathroom outside, humane shelter, grooming, exercise, socialization, medication and transportation as needed.
c) Dogs must be kept inside the home at night unless prior arrangements are approved by PNK. When brought outside, the dog(s) must be either in a fenced yard/area or on an attended leash.
d) Dog(s) must wear collars at all times. If requested by PNK staff, the foster will also use harnesses on dog(s) for transport and/or walks.
e) The foster agrees to feed the animal(s) only PNK approved food.
f) The animal(s) shall be returned upon request by PNK, or if the foster is unable/unwilling to take further care of the animal(s). The foster agrees to immediately contact PNK if unable/unwilling to care for the animal(s) and to continue care for the animal(s) until PNK staff can make appropriate arrangements.
g) The foster will contact PNK staff immediately if they have concerns about an animal's health and will follow PNK staff directions as to the provision of medical care. If the foster seeks outside medical treatment for an animal without making an effort to consult with PNK staff, PNK reserves the right to deny reimbursement depending on the circumstances surrounding the event.
h) PNK is not liable for any bodily injury or property damage/losses whatsoever to the foster or others, or to another animal/pet, caused by the foster animal(s).
i) The foster hereby agrees to release, indemnify and hold PNK, its officers, directors, employees and agents harmless from any and all claims, damages, and liability arising from or related to the fostering activities (or the activities of those under 18 for whom the foster is responsible) under this agreement, or for any negligent act or omission by PNK, its officers, directors, employees and agents.
j) The foster agrees not to entrust the care of the animal(s) to others or relocate the animal(s) unless approved by PNK.
k) If there are plans to travel while fostering, the foster will arrange care for the pet in a PNK approved manner.
l) The foster will return any loaned items to PNK when he/she is no longer fostering.
m) This agreement is the entire agreement between the foster and PNK. Any modifications must be in writing and signed by both parties. This agreement binds the foster's heirs, executors, representatives, successors and assigns.
UNFORTUNATELY, WE CAN NO LONGER ACCEPT STRAY DOGS OR OWNER SURRENDERS.
