Cindy Dezern, MSW
Founder and President, Project No Kill Canine Rescue
Project No Kill Canine Rescue is my vision and mission. The vision came to me as I entered the second year of my Masters of Social Work program. I worked in rescue while in the program and wanted to find a way to marry my social work skills with my passion for animals. It is through this project that I found the answer. Research supports the therapeutic bond between human and animal and this rescue will serve both. Assessment skills are crucial to ascertain the match between adopter and adoptee to ensure a proper fit with reduced chance for relinquishment.
I am currently the proud pet parent of two rescue dogs, Junior and Sierra. They were rescued from a local kill shelter just short of being euthanized. I cannot imagine life without them or the reason for them being there in that shelter. I am compelled and driven to rescue the other Junior and Sierras of the world who are also waiting on death row. I am also a proud foster Mom.
This vision and mission is very personal to me. I have loved animals since childhood. I was born with a natural bond to animals. Above all, this is my life’s purpose and work. I have dedicated my life to this project.
